Ensaniya is an international non-governmental organization (INGO) founded in 2023 by Sudanese Diaspora in collaboration with other international humanitarian, recovery, and development experts to reimagine the way the world collectively responds to humanitarian crises and the aftermath, which historically takes years – if not decades and generations – to recover. 

At the core of Ensaniya’s founding is the belief that, the most sustainable and best solutions for immediate crisis response and long-term development come from the people in the countries in need of such lifesaving and life-sustaining support. Its approach challenges the status quo and demands tangible, real solutions co-created with organizations and communities best placed to respond to immediate crises and repeated shocks, whilst also planning and preparing for the day when humanitarian response transitions into rebuilding countries and communities affected by natural and human-made disasters. 

For decades, and in particular since The Grand Bargain launched at the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, the drive toward ‘leveling the playing field’ to ‘support local and national responders’ has proven a challenging journey. Progress was made since 2016; but much more needs to be done.  

Ensaniya, with its founding members of Sudanese Diaspora and non-Sudanese executive humanitarian professionals, understand the complexities of true localization and the barriers and opportunities to achieving this vision. Equally, Ensaniya believes that localization, including funding diversification and private sector investment, is not only possible but exceptional urgent and critical as more people than ever are displaced globally due to conflict, war, political unrest and persecution, human rights violations, poverty, and climate change.  

Ensaniya works across six main areas: 

• Emergency Humanitarian Response 
• Primary Health Care, with an intensive focus on maternal and child health, public health, and malnutrition 
• Food security and livelihoods 
• Education and Training 
• Youth Engagement and Empowerment 
• Sustainable Development 

By December 2023, Ensaniya secured collaborations with more than 50 organizations to envision an innovative, streamlined, and collaborative approach to bridge humanitarian response with credible, vetted knowledge and resource sharing. 

The organization facilitates strategic program design, management and implementation, and capacity building of country-based organizations; communication; and knowledge- and resource-sharing by leveraging technology to inform response through powerful insights derived from data.
